Requires hospitals to establish a violence prevention program which includes a workplace safety and security assessment and develop a safety and security plan that addresses identified workplace violence threats or hazards.
Directs the office of victim services, in consultation with the office for the prevention of domestic violence, to establish a statewide supervised visitation initiative including culturally sensitive services that provide language access for those who need it and that are affordable for those with limited means to pay; requires the submission of regular assessments and reports.
Requires school districts to provide instructional programming and services in reading and literacy which are evidence based and aligned with state standards; requires teachers in grades pre-K through five to attend professional development courses in reading education.
Requires the development and implementation of written workplace sexual harassment, sexual assault, and discrimination policies by corporations; requires reporting and eligibility for tax credits based on a corporation's record of sexual harassment, sexual assault, and discrimination among and between employees of such corporation; requires the division of human rights to promulgate standards relating to eligibility for state tax credits.
Relates to creating the Brooklyn health care commission which shall be charged with examining the system of general hospitals, nursing homes, ambulatory and primary care facilities, and medical school facilities in Kings county and recommending changes to that system.
Relates to residency requirements for police officers in a city with a population of one million or more; provides that any person appointed as a paid member of the police force of such city shall become a resident of any political subdivision or municipal corporation within such city within one year of their appointment and shall continue to reside within any political subdivision or municipal corporation.
Relates to school climate and codes of conduct on school property and disciplinary action following violation of such codes of conduct; makes conforming amendments.
Removes from admissibility evidence that proves or tends to prove that a victim has been convicted of a prostitution offense within three years prior to the sex offense which is the subject of the prosecution.
Directs the state commission of correction to promulgate rules and regulations for strip searches in correctional facilities which at a minimum include a requirement that no fewer than two staff members shall be present for any strip search.
