Alters penalties for individuals, corporations, companies, and associations that violate rules and regulations related to braking systems, steering components, coupling devices, and the transportation of hazardous materials; makes related provisions.
Requires electric companies to provide alternative measures to ensure customers with documented need for essential electricity for medical needs have access to electricity during power outages; requires electric companies to provide generators or lodging for such individuals and transportation for medical devices.
Allows the department of financial services to have additional oversight of banks and insurance companies that are not currently licensed in this state; provides penalties for violations.
Imposes a penalty of $20,000 per violation for violations of certain provisions relating to unlawfully disseminated images or depictions of individuals; clarifies that the owner or a wholly owned subsidiary of the owner of a website that hosts or transmits such images or depictions shall be liable for such violations; removes certain language restricting such violations to instances where such images or depictions were made for the purposes of harassing or annoying the individual; makes related provisions.
Relates to the use of assumed and corporate names by companies in the business of household goods moving; provides that companies may not use the words "mover", "moving", or "relocation service" or any abbreviation or derivative thereof unless approved by the commissioner of transportation.
Provides that contractors and subcontractors to cable television companies who are assessed penalties for two separate violations of payroll reporting requirements shall be ineligible to submit a bid on or be awarded any public work contract with the state, any municipal corporation or public body for five years; provides that cable television companies shall be subject to the requirement that workers on certain excavation projects be paid not less than a prevailing rate of wage.
Excepts violations pertaining to mufflers and exhaust systems for cars, motorcycle exhaust devices without internal baffles and motorcycle exhaust devices that are intentionally designed to allow for the internal baffling to be fully or partially removed or interchangeable from having a summons not issued or having a summons dismissed if the violation is corrected.
