Provides for the employment of school nurses for the inspection of pupils attending certain public schools; relates to school districts and boards of cooperative educational services.
Extends the waiver of approval and income limitations on to retired law enforcement officers employed as school resource officers in school districts and board of cooperative educational services.
Directs the commissioner of education, in consultation with the office of fire prevention and control, to develop model curriculum related to fire science for use by public high schools and boards of cooperative educational services throughout the state.
Prohibits vaping in educational institutions; requires educational institutions to educate communities about health risks associated with vaping and post no-vaping signage on educational institution premises.
Adds employee-owned enterprises and worker cooperatives to the list of preferred contractors for public contracts in the state; authorizes such enterprises and cooperatives to make certain purchases from centralized contracts for commodities, subject to conditions of the office of general services; authorizes the comptroller to conduct certain audits of employee-owned enterprises and worker cooperatives.
Requires automated external defibrillator equipment to be immediately available at school-sponsored events; requires school districts, boards of cooperative educational services, county vocational education and extension boards and charter schools to develop and implement a cardiac emergency response plan.
Extends protections to tenants of cooperative housing entities by expanding the definition of landlord to include cooperative entities; defines cooperative entities.
Provides that where a board of cooperative educational services has made a provisional appointment to a position and no civil service examination for such position has been conducted within nine months of such appointment, the provisional appointment shall not expire and shall be considered permanent.
Includes certain cooperative or limited-profit housing companies for purposes of conversions to cooperative or condominium ownership in the city of New York.
