Establishes a novel virus essential workers scholarship program to award annual scholarships to essential employees who worked during the outbreak of novel coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) or during the outbreak of another novel virus and children of essential employees who have died as a result of contracting COVID-19 or another novel virus.
Establishes a COVID-19 essential workers scholarship program to award annual scholarships to essential employees who worked during the outbreak of novel coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) and children of essential employees who have died as a result of contracting COVID-19.
Enacts the COVID-19 essential workers appreciation act which requires businesses who have increased their profits due to the outbreak of COVID-19 to deposit five percent of gross profits into a fund to be used by the COVID-19 essential workers appreciation task force to make awards to essential employees and families of essential employees who have died as a result of contracting COVID-19.
Establishes the COVID heroes grant program to award a lump sum pay differential of $2,500 to essential SUNY hospital employees who worked during the COVID-19 state disaster emergency.
Prohibits a finding of educational neglect based solely on excessive absence from school in certain situations during the COVID-19 state of emergency, and requires the closure of investigations into claims of educational neglect when the child has not been provided with the resources or opportunity to participate in distance learning during the COVID-19 state of emergency or when the child's parent or caregiver is an essential worker, the fact that the child's parent or guardian is an essential worker, is caring for someone with the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), is sick with the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), or is in mandatory isolation or quarantine.
Recognizing the essential contributions of frontline health workers in assisting the state to recover from the COVID-19 pandemic and urging greater attention and support for local frontline health workers.
Relates to providing hazard payments to essential workers during a state disaster emergency; provides that certain employers shall make hazard payments to essential workers during a state disaster emergency provided no hazard payment shall exceed twenty-five thousand dollars in any year for any essential worker earning less than two hundred thousand dollars per year or five thousand dollars for any essential worker earning more than two hundred thousand dollars.
Relates to establishing the COVID-19 children scholarship; provides that children whose parent, primary caretaker or sibling died or was disabled as a result of contracting COVID-19 shall be eligible for such scholarship.
